Life examined and optimized through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

We can train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) to become skilled at BJJ. Or we can train BJJ to improve our minds, bodies, careers, and lives. BJJ Meditations is an individualized, principle-based training framework for BJJ geared toward human optimization, consisting of free information resources and coaching.

Have you ever set lofty goals — like becoming more mindful, delivering higher-quality work, or learning to better navigate change — then wondered where to begin?

Principles like these are impossible to practice in isolation. You need habits or practices that manifest principles, coupled with feedback loops around these practices, to make meaningful change.

BJJ Meditations harnesses the power of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) to take a principle-based approach to tackling your self-transformation through BJJ. These methods have helped people from all walks of life achieve personal and professional breakthroughs.

Training

BJJ Mediations embraces the practice of journaling. Our blog consists of short reflections that put life at large through the context of life on the mat. They’re short, highly personal, and hopefully impactful, stylistically akin to the Stoic philosopher king Marcus Aurelius.

BJJ Meditations is also a podcast, which you can find on YouTube or wherever you listen to podcasts. Think of it as one person’s BJJ training journal made public. On BJJ Meditations, I explore the themes and principles that are most salient for me as I strive to become a better grappler and all-around human. The podcast is a free resource for all, and it will always be free.
